PRESIDENT & CEO

Marcus holds a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Technology, Sydney, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University, and a BA from Clark University in Worcester, MA. He has over 20 years of experience driving advanced technology efforts in the semiconductor, life science, materials science, and natural resources markets. His long track record leading all aspects of complex innovation programs— including technology scouting & assessment, technology development, and strategic market analysis— has led to 14 patents and numerous peer reviewed publications. Marcus has a broad background in charge particle optics, lasers, plasma diagnostics, spectroscopy, high voltage design, vacuum technology, and surface physics.

CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER

Bud received his PhD from OGI (Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology, now a division of Oregon Health and Sciences University) in Electrical Engineering in 1993 after attending Linfield College as an undergraduate. He spent the following 13 years at the FEI Company as a Research Scientist in the Beam Technology Division. Bud joined APT in 2006. Bud’s areas of expertise include electron and ion source development, charged particle optics, high voltage systems, vacuum technology, and surface physics and chemistry related to electron and ion emission. Bud has been granted five electron source patents.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Iva joined APT as Director of Finance in May 2021, adding her extensive expertise in accounting and financial reporting to the leadership team. Prior to joining APT, she worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific (FEI Company) for 17 years. While at TFS, Iva held numerous finance roles including Senior Financial Analyst for the Semiconductor Business Unit, R&D Controller for North America, Consolidation Accountant, Accounting Manager (Brno factory), and others. With an MA in Finance from Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic and an international certificate in accounting and auditing from ACCA, Iva is passionate about the accuracy of financial statements. She also loves Power BI reporting and data analysis.

DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Brooke earned her BS in Business Administration from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management. In 2014, she received the Young Professional of the Year Award from the McMinnville Chamber of Commerce. Today, Brooke manages and oversees all of APT’s HR needs.

PRODUCTION SITE MANAGER

Sarah returned to APT in 2009 and now supports all our manufacturing processes including LaB6 & CeBix® shaping, cathode assembly, tungsten wire etching, Schottky emitter building, and liquid metal ion source (LMIS) processing. As Production Site Manager, Sarah is essential to connecting our R&D, production, and sales teams. In addition to scheduling production, Sarah oversees operations, inventory management, and quality control. Outside of work, Sarah dedicates herself to community service, having volunteered in our local soup kitchen, animal shelter, and food bank. Sarah is also a member of our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and serves on the Leadership Mac Committee for the McMinnville Chamber of Commerce.

PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST

Aaron utilizes his background in computational nuclear and particle physics to study electron and ion source technology. Starting his career with an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, Aaron worked in research and development as a technician at the FEI company. Leaving FEI to pursue graduate studies, he ultimately received his PhD in Physics from the University of New Hampshire. He later returned to FEI where he advanced to the title of Staff Scientist. As APT’s Principal Scientist, Aaron is looking to continue our established technical excellence and expand the company's technical portfolio.

FRONT OFFICE MANAGER

Kris has a degree in graphic design, but her administrative and customer service skills always shine in any job she undertakes. In her 7 plus years with APT, Kris has filled most of the administrative roles in the company, including purchasing, invoicing, banking, and, most consistently, shipping, where she seamlessly manages the successful delivery of several hundred packages each year. Kris chairs our safety committee, and maintains relationships with many of our service vendors and community contacts. She also assists with our marketing program, planning company events, and helps out with whatever “needs doing.” With her experience and depth of knowledge about how the company works, Kris provides trusted support for our staff as well as our customers.
